BASE JUMPING IN KJERAG
Since the first jump in October 1994, Kjerag has become one of the world's most iconic BASE jumping destinations — with over 69,000 jumps logged from its legendary cliffs. Managed by Stavanger B.A.S.E Klubb since 2000, we've spent decades building the safety standards, infrastructure, and community that make Kjerag what it is today.
We know BASE jumpers aren't exactly known for loving rules — and honestly, we get it. But the regulations we have in place are the result of years of hard work to keep Kjerag a legal jumping site. That status is something we fight for and never take for granted. Please respect the rules, look out for each other, and stay safe out there. We want to keep this place open for the next 69,000 jumps.

BASE jumping is a high-risk activity that can result in serious injury or death. Do not participate unless you fully understand and accept the risks involved.
RULE-1
EXPERIENCE
To jump at Kjerag you must be at least 18 years old with a minimum of 250 skydives. Fewer than 15 BASE jumps? You're required to complete SBK's First Jump Course (FJC) before jumping.
Remember — thousands of skydives don't make you a BASE jumper.
Please read through our guidelines before you arrive. Knowing them is part of jumping safely at Kjerag.
SPECIAL RULES FOR WINGSUITS
To jump Kjerag or Smellveggen with a wingsuit, you must have completed a minimum of 50 wingsuit jumps from an aircraft and at least 40 BASE jumps. No exceptions.
RULE-2
REGISTRATION
All jumpers must fill out an online registry form and pay the annual registration fee on arrival.
Don't forget your logbook — it's mandatory for documenting your experience. No logbook may mean no jump.
RULE-3
EQUIPMENT
All jumpers require a gear inspection and approval from an SBK instructor before jumping. Your pilot chute must be in good condition, bridle cord 9 feet, and canopy a 7 cell.
Maximum wing load must not exceed 0.85 lb./sq. ft.

Velcro closed rigs are not permitted on terminal jumps in Kjerag — slider down jumps at Eagle's Nest only.
We have eight Apex Summit rigs with FLiK canopies available to rent. Every jumper must carry a 2-way radio for boat communication —Channel 5.5 (EU Frequency)
RULE-4
TRANSPORT
You're welcome to use your own transportation to the trailhead, but you must contact SBK staff before heading up — every time.
Let us know how many jumpers are going up and how many will need boat transport back to Lysebotn.
No check-in, no guaranteed seat on the boat.
The only way out of the landing zone is by boat. SBK operates a rescue boat for jumpers who land in water, and at least one shuttle boat running from Geitaneset LZ back to Lysebotn.
DuringHELIBOOGIE, additional boats will be in service.
RULE-5
RESCUE BOAT
The rescue boat must be present and in position before any jumping begins at Kjerag or Smellveggen.
No one is permitted to jump without approval from the rescue boat driver. No Exceptions.
Every jumper must carry a 2-way radio — Channel 5.5 (EU Frequency)
Discuss your schedule with the captain before heading up, and ensure you're reachable by radio or phone at all times.
RULE-6
FITNESS
BASE jumping demands full mental clarity and physical fitness.
SBK staff reserves the right to deny any jumper access to the exit points if they appear intoxicated or under the influence of any substance.
RULE-7
LOW PULL
Deploying close to the ground leaves no margin for line twists, line-overs, or other emergencies.
Deploy higher — give yourself the time and altitude to land safely and handle anything unexpected.
RULE-8
ETHICS
Norway's nature is extraordinary — help us keep it that way.
Stay on trail, don't disturb the flora and fauna, leave the rocks as you find them, and follow Leave No Trace principles.
Pack out all your trash and dispose of it in the bins provided in Lysebotn.
