HOW TO GET HERE
Lysebotn sits at the far end of Lysefjorden — one of Norway's most dramatic fjords, and the gateway to Kjerag. It's remote by design, and getting here is part of the adventure. Here's everything you need to plan your journey.
Getting to Norway
Your first stop is Stavanger Airport Sola (SVG), the closest international airport. Several hotels are available near the airport if you're arriving late and need to rest before the drive or ferry.
From Stavanger to Lysebotn
There are two great ways to reach Lysebotn — choose based on your travel style:
By car
Rent a car at Stavanger Airport and drive directly to Lysebotn. The route takes you through stunning Norwegian mountain scenery and over the Lysefjord road. Allow around 2-3 hours.
By public transport + ferry
Take the bus from Stavanger to Sandnes, then continue to Lauvvik and board the ferry into Lysebotn. It's a beautiful approach to the fjord, and one of the most scenic ways to arrive. Check the Ferry Timetable for departures, and use the Kolumbus route planner for up-to-date bus connections.

Food, Fuel & Shopping in Lysebotn

FUEL & EV CHARGING
Fill up at Suleskard before the mountain pass. SBK's private fuel station is reserved for operations and emergencies only. EV charging is available at the DNT Lodge.
SHOPPING
Two small shops cover the basics — the DNT Lodge and Landhandel both stock packaged food. For a larger shop, Suleskard has a well-stocked shopping centre about 45 minutes from Lysebotn.
FOOD & DRINKS
The DNT Lodge and Olav's Pub both serve meals and drinks in Lysebotn. You can also eat at the restaurant at Øygardstøl. For a quick bite, Werner's kiosk by the pier is the spot for hotdogs and ice cream. During events, our own Batcave Bar opens behind the reception building — legendary status well earned. Please note — alcohol cannot be taken beyond the premises of purchase.
